Editor’s Top 5: Gear of the Week

Every week we will be looking at the top gear, voted by our users at http://symb0l.com, selecting the best, and digging up as much as we can.  Our first week has been a busy one with the site launch, but already we are getting some of the best gear around.  Lets check it out.

#5. Ozebarjadi Work-Day Clock $25

In the artist’s words: Show up, work… eat, stare out the window, and before you know it, the day is gone; that’s the rhythm of the working life. Do you really care if it’s 2:05 or 2:10? or 3:10?

Laugh all you want, but you know it’s true.  You’re institutionalized and there is nothing you can do about it.  Your body has even aligned itself to need the morning caffeine, and get hungry right before lunch.  You might as well just browse from 3:30 on, because your mind just wants to get the hell out of there.  Anyone can complain about the details of work life, but few have the balls to put the truth right on their desk.

UPDATE: This item has sold out!

#4. Quirky LugeCubes $22

The company’s words:

Quirky’s LugeCubes is a modular ice luge kit that comes with 3 custom mold designs and a drinking spout. Out with the standard shot glasses, it’s time to for the Ultimate Liquor Run.

The durable ice luge molding system lets you build and customize your own ice luge design. The compact cube trays are split into two halves to save storage room in your freezer. We’ve carefully crafted the enclosed tubular luge design to allow the drinker to see the liquor traveling through the ice (READ: easy to imbibe when intoxicated).

We’ve made the drinking spout removable and reusable so you can give it a quick clean between drinkers – mom may not be proud your drinking, but she’ll be glad to know you aren’t spreading H1N1 around your frat house. Your set comes equipped with a pictures only, no reading required, assembly instruction booklet.

Our take: OK, so it’s just another drinking game, but there’s always room for more.  What?  That’s all behind you now that you’re out in the real world with a real job?  Maybe so, but you know that next party would be a lot funner if you brought back some good times.

#3.Furniture By Peter Rolfe $LOTS

Our take: This submission links to a fantastic blog, ‘Geek Giz‘, which shows several of Peter Rolfe’s human sculptural furniture pieces.  Amazing stuff, and definite conversation pieces.  At Rolfe’s website, you can see even more of these, and his incredible non-sculptural pieces as well.  If you can afford it, you can also commission him to make you something–and you’re a baller.

#2. Hard Graft Hats and Accessories $50+

Hard Graft calls itself “Purveyors of Fine Handmade Lifestyle Accessories,” and they certainly are.

Our take: Just recently launched, Hard Graft has a pretty incredible line including Hats, Laptop Sleeves, iPhone Cases and more.  More accessories:

#1.Genuine Scooter Co Buddy Black Jack $3500

Our take: These things are super hot.  You get a semi-vintage look, blacked out with some sailor jerry decals, and no vintage vespa nonsense (mixing oil into gas, etc) to deal with.  These things are highly reliable 4-strokes with plenty of power.  They’re popping up all over the place very quickly, though usually in the basic “Buddy” model that is a little less powerful, a lot less cool, and way more colorful.  Regardless, the whole range is excellent, and the base Buddy 125 will only set you back about $2700 with an excellent 2-year warranty.

Well, that’s the best of our very first week!  Some amazing products, some of which are hot off the line. New items are submitted and voted up constantly, so be sure to check us out to get your fix.
